It was late 2012 and husband and wife team, Tyler and Tracy Mayclin had purchased the space that was formerly occupied by the Asian inspired restaurant, Soban Restaurant & Lounge in Seattle. After two years of seeking the perfect location, they had settled on this space due to its neighborhood feel and proximity to the Paramount Theatre and the Convention Center.
Once the purchase was complete, the real work began. They collaborated with prominent restaurant consultant Arnold Shane, CEO of the Restaurant Group, who provided the necessary introductions to the right people for a successful opening of Metropole. A BizX member since 2004, Arnold Shain was recently named one of Seattle Magazine’s most powerful players in the Seattle food scene. Arnold has also been influential with other BizX restaurants including The Parlor, Greenlake Bar & Grill, Eastlake Bar & Grill, Lunchbox Laboratories and Goldberg’s.One of Arnold Shain’s first recommendations was for the Mayclins to join BizX to save on cash expenses required for the renovation and on-going expenses after opening. The Mayclins didn’t require further convincing. They became BizX members in late 2012 and have used BizX dollars to cover a wide range expenses including plumbing, refrigeration, pest-control and signage.
"In the restaurant industry, unforeseen expenses pop up all the time. BizX is a great way to mitigate these costs. When something comes up, we turn to the BizX community first,” says Metropole owner Tyler Mayclin.
Not only have the Mayclin’s been able to save cash but they also have attracted new customers who want to use their BizX cards or gift certificates. “We’ve generated considerable business thru BizX guests and are very appreciative of each person who walks through our door. Every bit of exposure helps,” comments Tyler Mayclin.
For all BizX members who have not yet been to Metropole, you should check them out soon. Once you walk in the door, you will be welcomed by a cozy atmosphere that feels open and urban. Metropole serves delicious contemporary American food using fresh and natural local ingredients. The bar features regional wineries, distilleries and breweries that delight even the most sophisticated drink connoisseur.
