Extreme Makeover, BizX Edition Part 2
The build-out at Crossroads Bar & Grill is well underway and their opening in April is fast-approaching. The building of this restaurant is in part being financed with barter, which is an efficient option for companies looking to build a new location. When companies choose to use barter financing for their build-out, they purchase the building essentials on a credit line from their trade exchange, instead of using cash. When the location is complete, the trade exchange brings them the new business they need to pay for the build-out by marketing to other members of the exchange. For example, BizXchange uses Account Executive relationships, weekly emails, a bi-monthly newsletter and social media marketing to reach members of the exchange and bring business to the new location. Barter currency is then accepted as another form of payment for services and products. Once they have funded the build-out, the business will continue to accept the barter currency to offset future cash expenses. Barter financing can be used for a new location that needs to be completely constructed, a building renovation or to make small improvements and updates on an existing location.
Painting, along with granite installation, electric work and an aquarium, was purchased with a BizX credit line for the build-out of Crossroads Bar & Grill. At my most recent visit, the drop cloths were removed and the cloud of paint fumes were gone to reveal a clean, bright paint job done by a BizX member.
